Let Em Run

 Play

Found an old cowboy hat beneath my Daddy’s bed
Said “tell bout the man that wore this and the life he led”
“Your Great Grand Dad was a cowboy and the toughest man you’d ever meet
One day he came up on six wild horses down by Morgan’s Creek
Riders came to fence them in and Grand Dad pulled his gun
What he said I’ll remember long after my days are done”

Let ‘em run, Let ‘em run,
Let them feel their own freedom, find their own soul
Got to let ‘em go to find their way home
Let ‘em run

Long blonde hair in a pony tail, Hershey kiss brown eyes
Shared our first taste of love as the sun slipped from the sky
That was earlier April we got married that same June
Spent four days celebration on the beach in Cancun
Now she says she needs her space we were foolish and young
I searched for what to say and then I heard these words come

Let her run, let her run
Let her feel her own freedom, find her own soul
Got to let ‘em go to find their way home
Let her run

She came back six months later now she’s pregnant with our son
I know my Great Grand Dad was right because the time is going to come

Let him run, let him run
Let him feel his own freedom, find his own soul
You got to let ‘em go to find their way home
Let him run

Found an old cowboy hat beneath my Daddy’s bed

The story behind the song…
There comes a time in everybody’s life when you must feel the freedom of letting someone or something go so that it can find its true home. This song is about just that feeling and how often times when you let something go you get the answer or answers that you need to move forward yourself.
